Orthodontic Treatments

Do you have misaligned teeth? It is reported that people who have
misaligned teeth lack confidence because they become embarrassed. The
good news is that you can correct any form of teeth misalignment using
orthodontic treatments.

What is an orthodontic treatment?

An orthodontic treatment is a treatment administered for the purpose
of correcting misalignment in teeth. When might you need orthodontic
treatment?

You might need orthodontic treatment for:

  • Crooked teeth or teeth that protrude

  • A bad bite (an incorrect way that the upper and lower jaws meet
    when the mouth closes)

  • Poorly aligned jaw

  • Gaps between the teeth

  • Problems with speaking or chewing

What are the orthodontic treatment options?

Dental Braces

Dental braces are used by orthodontists to correct the alignment of
teeth by applying pressure that is strong enough to slightly move teeth
incrementally over a duration of time. You can get braces at any age!
Today braces have moved from traditional metal braces that were not so
appealing to a wide range of beautiful colored braces to choose
from.

Dental braces come in three common types: metal braces, lingual
braces, and self-ligating braces.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a brand name for clear aligners. Invisalign applies the
same principle as braces but these aligners are removable and invisible.
They can be taken out during meals which makes them a convenient option.
The aligners are transparent and no one can tell you are wearing
them.

Headgear

Headgear is used with caution because even though it targets the back
teeth it can cause your front teeth to protrude. It is mostly used to
hold your back teeth as your front teeth are being treated.

Retainers

Retainers are used after you have completed treatment with braces or
clear aligners. Their purpose is to retain your teeth in their straight
positions.

Orthognathic Treatment

This is a treatment administered to patients who have abnormal jaws.
It is a surgical process that involves repositioning one or both
jaws.
