Dental Braces in Vista

Braces Orthodontics

Do you need braces? Our orthodontists can help you find the right
braces for your needs with options such as metal braces and Invisalign
available to choose from. There are many reasons why you may require
braces and below are some of them.

  • You have gapped teeth, you are missing some teeth or you have
    extra teeth.

  • Your teeth are crooked or crowded and this impacts your
confidence and gets in the way of building healthy
    relationships.

  • You have difficulties biting, chewing, speaking, or general
difficulty opening your mouth because of protruding teeth or other
    misalignments.

  • You have challenges in brushing and flossing your teeth,
increasing the risks of tooth decay.

  • You often bite your tongue or cheeks with your misaligned
    teeth.

  • You have jaw pain among other mouth-related discomforts.

An orthodontist can help you correct teeth misalignments using braces
for mild, moderate, and severe cases. In an extreme situation that
requires jaw adjustment as well, for example, if you have a small jaw,
surgery may be required. Otherwise, your orthodontist will choose the
right braces for you from the options below.

Types of Braces

Common types of braces to choose from include:

Metal Braces

Metal braces are suitable for mild, moderate, and severe
misalignments even though extreme cases may require additional
treatments along with metal braces. They are also known as traditional
braces. They use wires and elastic ties that allow your orthodontist to
make slight teeth adjustments after every few weeks.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are made of a clear material that more or less looks
like natural teeth. Ceramic braces use the same wire concept as metal
braces but in this case, the wires aren’t prominent on your teeth. These
braces are suitable only for some people.

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces are the least common type of braces. They are the same
as metal braces but the wires are behind the teeth making them invisible
from the outside. Lingual braces are more expensive because they are not
easy to fix.

Invisalign Aligners

Invisalign clear aligners are not your regular braces but they
effectively and discreetly straighten teeth. Invisalign aligners are
removable and can be taken out for brushing and eating.
